The Saddened Soul

I can feel the burn inside my soul,

Like a fiery night

With no water to drink.

Winds of a hurricane

Thrashing in my mind.

I know this because

It’s not anything new to me.

I feel it coming in waves,

Like a storm brewing within.

For the strength inside of me

Is being tested

From the devil’s hands below.

This isn’t Godly.

It can’t be.

It’s from the depths

Of the sizzling fire underneath.

Sometimes it’s hard to breathe,

I feel the thickness

In the smothering air.

Something’s got ahold of me,

Please God,

Just set me free.
